Intensive In-Home Services are offered for youth and children who are at-risk of being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, delinquency, behavioral/emotional/mental health problems or substance abuse. The program also serves youth who are transitioning back home from foster care, correctional facilities, or residential treatment. With services spanning 4-6 months, the primary goal of the In-Home Service Program is family stabilization.

Anyone can make a referral to the In-Home Service Program. Primary sources include public agencies throughout Hampton Roads, including the Juvenile Court Service Units, the Departments of Social Services, the public schools, Family Assessment and Planning Teams, and Community Assessment Teams. Self-referrals from families eligible for Medicaid and FAMIS are also accepted.
The In-Home Service Program of the Tidewater Youth Services Commission is one of the most well-known and respected providers of In-Home Services in the Hampton Roads area. Staffed by highly trained, experienced individuals, most with advanced degrees and certifications, the In-Home Service Program promotes the preservation of the family while protecting the child and ensuring public safety.
