Programs - Wrap-around counseling (mentoring)

Wrap-around counseling (mentoring): As part of its continuum of care, the Tidewater Youth Services Commission offers wrap-around counseling (mentoring).  At a minimum, mentors meet with each client once a week.  This one-on-one intervention serves to enhance the youth’s social skills, provide support and modeling, and improve interpersonal relationships.

Wrap-around services offer:

• Basic counseling and case management activities
• Increased supervision, support, and practical skill building
• Development and assistance toward obtaining specific behavioral goals
• Assistance with academic and/or behavioral issues at school
• Behavior management
• Employment assistance
• Therapeutic activities involving role modeling, leisure skills, structured socialization, skill development
