  • To be considered for employment, the driving record will be reviewed and must reflect evidence of a safe driving history.  An unofficial online record is acceptable but must contain the applicant’s full name and driving history.

Under general direction of administrator, the Clinical Coordinator will provide clinical supervision to direct service providers who assist clients and families with their personal and social problems.  Provide oversight to support staff that provide evidence-based programing to modify and change attitudes and behavior. TYSC is recruiting for relief counselors in all of our residential facilities, to provide counseling and supervision to adolescents. Work is on an as-needed basis, serving as relief for regular staff. Evenings/weekends required. Experience with troubled youth preferred. Preferred program must be indicated on application.

LAUNCH PROGRAM (ENTRY-LEVEL)

This program is designed to provide an entry-level work/training opportunity for recent Tidewater Community College associate graduates of human services and criminal justice programs with the desire of becoming a staff member in one of the Commission’s programs. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 to be considered.  Position is designed to provide on-the-job training to gain the experience necessary to meet the minimum professional requirements for a full-time position with the agency.

This is a fixed-term program that if successful can lead to a permanent position.  Selectees are employed for a fixed period of time (not to exceed 52 weeks) and can be scheduled up 40 hours per week.  Starting pay is currently $15.75 per hour for applicants with an Associate’s degree.  This position is not a benefited full time position.  Upon successful completion of the 52-week work/training experience, individuals are offered an opportunity to interview for vacant positions within the Commission’s residential programs.

COUNSELOR ASCENSION PROGRAM (ENTRY-LEVEL)

This program is designed to provide a one-year, entry-level work/training opportunity for recent graduates of human services and criminal justice programs and related fields of study. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 to be considered.  The position is designed to provide on-the-job training to gain the experience necessary to gain the minimum professional experience to be qualified for a full-time position with the agency.

This is a fixed-term part-time position.  Selectees are employed for a fixed period of time (not to exceed 52 weeks) and scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week.  Starting pay is currently $16.30 hourly for applicants with a Bachelor’s degree.  Applicants applying with a Master’s degree will start at $18.72 hourly.  Upon successful completion of the 52-week work/training experience, individuals are able to apply to full-time positions in one of the Commission’s programs.

This program is designed to provide basic and continuing education to enhance the counseling skills of employees working with adolescents and families in residential group homes, diversion, and a variety of non-residential settings.

Program participants are under the administrative supervision of Deputy Director, who will manage the work/training program, make work schedule assignments and provide performance reviews after weeks 16, 32 and 48.  Day-to-day supervision will be provided by the director of the program to which the participant is assigned.
